Hookah
tobacco, commonly referred to as shisha,
is a blend of fruit or some other flavor, molasses and tobacco.
In some brands, such as Al Waha from Jordan, honey is used in
place of molasses.
This
type of hookah tobacco has a much higher moisture content than
pipe or rolling tobacco. This is a result of molasses or honey
being part of the shisha blend. Because of this higher moisture
content, a hookah
charcoal must be used to bring the shisha tobacco to its boiling
point, thus releasing the sweet shisha smoke that is in fact 80%
steam vapor.
A 250g package of shisha tobacco typically is enough for 35-40
bowls, while a 50g sample box lasts 7-8 bowls.
Shisha tobacco
should be stored in a cool dry place in a tupperware type
container, not necessarily in the refrigerator.
